Oh Christmas Tree….December Has Arrived

Remember This December, That love weighs more than gold!

December Fun Facts

  • December is the twelfth and final month of the Gregorian calendar and the first month of winter. It derives it’s name from the Latin word decem, meaning ten, as December was the tenth month of the oldest Roman calendar.
  • The Winter Solstice, also known as Midwinter, occurs around December 21 or 22 each year in the Northern hemisphere, and June 20 or 21 in the Southern Hemisphere. It occurs on the shortest day or longest night of the year, sometimes said to astronomically mark the beginning or middle of a hemisphere’s winter.
  • The word solstice derives from Latin, Winter Solstice meaning “Sun Set Still in Winter.” Worldwide different cultures hold a recognition of rebirth, involving festivals, gatherings, rituals or other celebrations ie, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, New Years, Pongal, Yalda and many other festivals of light

New Council Takes Office

Living in the Hills of Mulmurby Ruth Rindinella

The rolling hills, a sea of green
And farmers fields, mixed in between

A sunset sky, spread out across the land
And peaceful silence across the Mulmur sand

Out on the Main Tract, many friends walk the trail
As the leaves fall from the trees, creating a vale

Over at the Pub, friends and family meet
Everyone is welcome, just pull up a seat

A community separated by lots of land
doesn’t seem so big when we all need a hand

Neighbours still help each other when in need
Working together, planting the friendship seed

Around the corner, driving down a winding street
Our Mayor and Council are getting ready to meet

Each with their own sense of style and wit,
Working together, at the table they sit

With coffee in hand, and hands at the ready
their focus is intense, their gaze is steady

Business is at hand, Mulmur is their heart
All are quite eager and ready to start

Eyes are wide open, as they all share a grin
Our Mayor calls to order and the meeting begins

It’s Better in Mulmur, I’m sure you’ll agree
And our Council will lead us to be the best we can be

At the end of the day, and at the root of it all
Everyone loves Mulmur, Spring, Summer Winter and Fall
